Surgeon Decision Intelligence
Spinal surgery is one of the highest-stakes decisions in medicine and for decades, surgeons have been making those calls based on experience, intuition, and MRI scans that reveal structure but say nothing about biology. Surgeon Decision Intelligence changes that. The platform analyzes 20+ quantitative imaging biomarkers across muscle, bone, disc, vascular, and neurological tissue, then creates a patient-specific digital twin to simulate different surgical approaches and predict outcomes before a single incision is made. I was brought in to design the MVP alongside a team of leading spinal surgeons and AI/ML integration experts, translating years of research and clinical expertise into a product experience that surgeons could actually use. The hardest part wasn't the interface. It was the thinking behind it. The surgical team had deep domain knowledge but no product language. My job was to pull those broad clinical concepts out of their heads and shape them into specific, sequenced user flows that a development team could build against. When the subject matter is spinal surgery and AI, there's no room for ambiguity in the UX. We mapped the full journey from MRI upload and biomarker analysis, through patient health scoring and surgical simulation, to outcome prediction, and stress-tested every decision point until the flow was airtight.
